Discover the changing face of the Cockney heartlands with a ‘Ruby Murray Tour of Brick Lane’ organised as part of the Modern Cockney Festival taking place at 12 noon and 6pm on Thursday March 21st.

The hour-long walking tours are guided by members of the ‘Save Brick Lane’ campaign, featuring insights into current and past East End struggles, with the history of housing, demonstrations, ethnic minorities, gentrification and the emerging masterplan for the area, finishing with an optional curry in Brick Lane’s Banglatown.

The Festival is also encouraging Londoners to use their feet to time travel, by taking to the streets of the Cockney heartland with a wide range of walking tours provided by a growing range of companies offering discovery of the East End’s radical history, through to the Blitz, and stories of inspiring women.

“For visitors who have yet to discover, or locals unaware of the wealth of history in London’s East End, one of the best ways to discover it is by foot.” said Saif Osmani cofounder of the Modern Cockney Festival. “Our Ruby Murray Curry Tour reveals a vibrant East End combined with a curry option.”
